Upper Hunter Flexible Respite (Disability)

This service provides a flexible and innovative range of respite services to  meet the  needs the carers,  family or significant others of younMan in wheelchairger people with a disability, aged to 65 years.
Once the clients’ needs are identified a Respite Care Plan will be developed that will allocate a fixed financial amount to a client for respite for a specified period, usually 6 or 12 months.
There is no guarantee that funds will be available for another respite package at the conclusion of each period. The days and times that the respite occurs are up to the client, their carer or significant other, within the allocated resources. The Case Manager will discuss with the carer the options for receiving the care.
Respite for ageing carers is a priority of this project.

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible you should:
  • Be the Carer of a person (under 65) with a disability, and
  • not be living in a hospital, group home or residential care facility, and
  • not be receiving care under a Community Aged Care Package, Service Access System or Attendant Care Program, and
  • resides in the Dungog, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Singleton or Upper Hunter local government areas.
